American Chestnut Seedling
It’s no wonder this magnificent tree was called grandfather of the woods. Living up to 800 years with a maximum 10ft diameter and 100ft height it was truly overwhelming.
Add on sweet abundant crops of nuts and you have a real winner. Chestnuts grow quickly and can produce 10-20 lbs of nuts after just 10 years, and between 50-100 lbs after 15-20 years. Their lumber is also sought after for its strength and lightweight.
